In order to open the doors of education to the ruralites, the founder president of Guru Nanak National College Doraha Dr. Ishwar Singh, along with his team of co-thinkers, constituted Guru Nanak National College Managing Board, Doraha in 1971. At present, the college is imparting education in Humanities, Commerce & Business Administration, Science and Computer Science at both graduate and post graduate levels. The college also offers its student’s job oriented Add-on and skill-based courses in both formal and non-formal modes.

Majority of the rural students, with the financial assistance and guidance of their teachers, have carved a niche for themselves by securing top board and university positions. In addition to academic excellence, the institution promotes sports, culture and performing arts like music, theatre, dances and other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The college accords facilities for a wide range of sports and games to the students.

Apart from this, the students actively participate in various extension activities carried through NCC, NSS, Eco Club, Youth Club, Press Club, Moral and Social Club etc. The Career Guidance and Counseling Cell provides course related professional or even personal counseling to the students while the placement cell has tied up with various industries to enable the students to seek satisfactory placement for them. The Alumni Association too remains in touch with the college. Financial aid and scholarships are provided to the needy and meritorious students. Financial support is also availed from philanthropists, social organizations and the alumni.
