Buddy Committee

The Buddy Committee of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha plays a pivotal role in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for students. Formed under the guidelines of the Government of Punjab to curb drug abuse and promote student well-being, the Committee strives to nurture a culture of care, awareness, and mutual support within the campus.

The initiative connects senior students (Buddies) with their juniors, enabling open communication and guidance on academic, personal, and social challenges. By fostering meaningful peer relationships, the Buddy Committee helps students adjust smoothly to college life while steering them away from negative influences.

Our Vision

To build a drug-free, positive, and compassionate campus culture by empowering students to become responsible role models and active contributors to a safe and healthy academic environment.

Objectives

  • Create awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
  • Establish strong peer support systems that encourage healthy lifestyles and responsible choices.
  • Promote emotional well-being and help students cope with academic and social pressures.
  • Organize interactive sessions, awareness drives, and workshops on mental health, self-discipline, and life skills.
  • Identify students who may need counselling or support and connect them with professional help.
  • Encourage mutual respect, empathy, and understanding among all students.

Activities and Initiatives

The Buddy Committee of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha conducts a variety of awareness and outreach programs, including:

  • Anti-Drug Awareness Campaigns and rallies in and around the campus.
  • Workshops and Counselling Sessions on mental health, stress management, and addiction prevention.
  • Peer Interaction Meets where Buddies share experiences and advice with junior students.
  • Poster-Making, Slogan-Writing, and Debate Competitions to creatively spread awareness.
  • Collaborative Programs with NGOs, health departments, and government agencies working on de-addiction and youth welfare.
